5 Simple Ways to Party at Home
Let’s do the #partypivot
Celebrating a special milestone in the next few months? Party cancelled due to the COVID-19 restrictions? We all have to do our bit to flatten the curve of COVID-19 by staying at home, so it has never been more timely to get creative in the way we celebrate at home!
Read on to discover 5 simple ways you can party at home with your immediate family and make sure those special milestones are made all the more memorable, regardless of guest numbers.
1. Sweet treats
Let’s face it, a party isn’t a party without treats! Why not involve your child in creating their own birthday cake and/or special treats for their celebration? This doesn’t have to be complicated – something as simple as using some cute sprinkles to make fairy bread or baking a cake and adding a topper can be fun, memorable and equally delicious. For my little girl Maggie’s birthday recently, we used Frozen inspired sprinkles from The Sprinkle Co. to create Frozen inspired treats and topped her birthday cake with a custom cake topper made by another small-biz mama, Claudia of Delight in Me Designs. We have a full range of cake accessories, including custom made cake toppers, perfect for at-home celebrations which you can shop here.
2. DIY decorations
Set the scene for your celebration by getting your DIY on and creating your own balloon garland backdrop! Our 1.5m size is perfect for your at-home celebration and provides the ideal backdrop for a cute cake smash, lounge-room picnic or as a surprise set-up in your child’s bedroom on the morning of his/her birthday. You can even involve your child in the decorating by having him/her help with the construction of the garland to add a sense of ownership to the celebration. You can shop our range of balloon garland colour combinations here or organise a custom 1.5m size here. We also have a full range of balloon bunch kits and number balloons which are easy to set up and provide an instant pop of colour and fun!
3. Set the table
Even if you’re only setting the table for 3 or 4 people, it’s still so important to make it look spesh! Choose some super sweet plates, napkins and cups and pick a handful of fresh flowers cut from the garden and voilà! We ordered these divine cookies from Sweet P Cakes and Cookies (these are shipped Australia wide) to top our blue iridescent plates add a sense of magic to our table setting.
4. Invite friends to join in
Even though friends and family can’t be physically in attendance, you can always send them some cute goodie bags to open at home and still feel part of the celebration. You could even invite everyone to jump online at the same time via a Zoom call or Messenger conversation to sing happy birthday, watch the cutting of the cake and open the goodie bags. We used the sweetest “Do You Want to Build a Snowman?” kits from Oh Goodie for Maggie’s home celebration and they were such a hit! Maggie loved receiving pics from her kindy friends of their mini Olafs on the day her party was supposed to take place and I’m sure her kindy friends had just as much fun creating them!
5. Entertainment
Does your child have a favourite character? If so, you can organise a personalised video message or Zoom call and watch their little face light up like never before! We organised a personalised video call from “Elsa” from Glass Slipper Entertainment for Maggie’s birthday and it was the hands-down highlight of her day.
